🕯️ Candle Care 101: How to Get the Most From Your Candles

Candles aren’t just décor — they’re a ritual, a moment of calm, and a way to make your home smell amazing. At Gibson Embers Candles, we want every candle you light to be safe, clean, and long-lasting. That’s why we’ve put together our best tips in one place.

Whether you’re a first-time candle lover or a seasoned pro, these simple steps will help you get the most out of your smelly goods.

🌱 1. The First Burn Sets the Memory

Your candle’s first burn is the most important. Always let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar the first time you light it (usually 3-4 hours for our large candles). This prevents tunneling and helps your candle burn evenly for the rest of its life.

✂️ 2. Trim Your Wick

Before each burn, trim your wick to about Âź inch. A trimmed wick keeps the flame steady, prevents soot, and helps your candle last longer.

🔥 3. Burn Safely

Keep candles away from drafts, pets, and children. Burn on a heat-safe surface and don’t leave your candle unattended. These simple precautions make your candle time relaxing and worry-free.

💨 4. Extinguish Properly

Snuffing out your candle instead of blowing it out helps reduce smoke and keeps your wick healthy. If you don’t have a snuffer, gently dip the wick into the wax with a wick dipper or a metal tool, then straighten it.

🕯️ 5. Store Smart

Store candles with the lid on or in a cool, dry place to preserve fragrance. Keeping dust off the surface also ensures a clean burn every time you light up.

✨ The Cozy Glow, Done Right

At Gibson Embers Candles, we pour each candle by hand with soy wax so you can enjoy a clean, non-toxic burn. Follow these simple steps to make every candle last longer and fill your home with beautiful fragrance.
